A large IT Division (9,000 employees) had become increasingly diverse with many employees who were born outside of the U.S., and they had also outsourced a substantial amount of work to India. Human Resources was being overwhelmed by the number of managers asking for help in dealing with a variety of challenges based on cultural differences that were affecting communications, relationships and results. At stake was the IT Division’s ability to successfully execute a project involving the most significant new technology in the Company’s history with an aggressive timeline.
