The VP of HR of a high-tech company recognized a problem at one of their manufacturing sites. It was clear that employees were afraid to speak up for fear of retaliation.


We conducted individual interviews at an offsite location. We reported our initial findings to senior management, then worked with HR and legal to further investigate some of the concerns that had been expressed. The CEO and several other execs made the tough call – two key managers were terminated. While this was an important first step, they recognized the need to rebuild trust with their employees. We designed and delivered three-hour sessions in small groups for everyone at the plant to facilitate open and honest dialogue — which acknowledged the problems in the past, and got them aligned with the organization’s commitment to move forward.


Within six months, this site went from having serious problems to being one of their most productive locations.
